Property Tax Appeals
If you are concerned that your property taxes are too high, we can review the value of your property and discover whether or not you should file a petition to appeal your property taxes.
Find the value used for your home on the property tax statement that you receive from your local taxing authority. Your property's value is based on the State Equalized Value, not the Taxable Value.
It's important to review what the assessor has on record as your square footage, lot size, garage, number of rooms etc., things that would affect the value of your property. You will also want to check what other homes that are comparable to, and in the same area as yours are selling for, to compare values.
Property taxes are only based on the value of one's home. Income does not determine the tax owed, nor can you lower your property taxes because you just cannot afford to pay them.
