Wexford County Crash Leaves One Dead

A tragic auto accident involving a pickup truck and a horse and buggy claimed the life of one of the buggy’s occupants Tuesday evening. The crash, which occurred near Colfax Township in the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, happened on East 16 ½ Road. Both the pickup truck and the buggy were traveling westbound, just east of North 31 Road. The buggy’s other occupant was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

In a strange coincidence, the accident occurred on the same day a Coleman-area man pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated when his pickup truck struck a horse and buggy. That collision, which occurred in February, resulted in the death of the horse and injury to both of the buggy’s occupants.
