The Children’s Place Recalls Girl’s Vests Because of Metal Snap Choking Hazard
According to recent reports, a popular children’s clothing store, The Children’s Place, is recalling about 3,300 girl’s vests because the metal snaps can detach and pose a choking hazard.
The white ruffle ruffle outdoor vests were imported from China and were sold online at www.childrensplace.com in September for about $20 each. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the voluntary recall on Friday, October 29. This recall represents one of several in the past two years for The Children’s Place. For example, in 2008 the company recalled boy’s camouflage pajamas that contained a high level of lead. In addition, the company recalled denim shorts with metal snaps that also posed a choking hazard.
According to the CPSC, the vests are “chalk white” with an attached ruffle hood. The vests also have a label sewn in the inside that reads #587754. Consumers are urged to cease use of the vests and to contact the company for a postage-paid envelope that will include instructions on how to return the vests for a full reimbursement.
