Trauma-Informed Approach to Advocacy Helps Survivors Find Healing & Justice

Our team at Grewal Law is committed to providing survivors of traumatic events with a safe and compassionate space to find help and healing. Whether it’s a difficult family law dispute, a personal injury or medical malpractice claim, or some other legal issue, our team strives to approach our clients with dignity and empathy.  Nowhere is that approach more important than in cases of sexual assault or abuse.

Each of our team members at Grewal Law has been undergoing additional, specific training to help us come alongside survivors of human trafficking and sexual assault.  Recently, three of our attorneys (Nolan Erickson, Sammie Eyde, and Kelly McClintock) attended a multi-disciplinary conference to learn about trauma-informed techniques for helping our clients and other survivors.

This conference, hosted by the Michigan State University Police Department’s Center for Trauma-Informed Investigative Excellence, educated professionals in the impact of trauma from sexual assault and relationship violence. At the conference, several individuals spoke out, including survivors of abuse, an investigative reporter, a special legal analyst, and a member of the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Treatment and Prevention Board. Knowing and practicing a trauma-informed approach helps our Grewal team empower survivors to work through the unique impact of sexual assault and abuse.

As much as this extensive training helps to educate our team, we know that there is still much to learn when it comes to helping survivors of sexual assault.  Our team at Grewal Law is prepared to do what it takes to help our clients and the community at large to find justice and healing.
