What Do I Do When There’s a Warrant Out for My Arrest?

Sometimes, people are not even aware they have a warrant out for their arrest until they are stopped for a traffic offense and handcuffed in the back of a cop car. Getting arrested on an unknown warrant can really ruin your day and end up having costly impacts on your life. For instance, your vehicle may be towed, or your children may be taken into custody by Child Protective Services (CPS).

Luckily in Ingham County, you can check the warrant list to see if your name appears.  This allows you to search the list to see if there are active warrants out for your arrest.  It may take months for criminal charges to be issued against you after the alleged crime took place or after police contact.

Checking this list periodically if you are suspected of wrongdoing can help prevent against surprise arrests and gives you the opportunity to proactively take care of the warrant. If your name does appear on the warrant list, you should seek out a skilled criminal defense attorney immediately to get the warrant taken care of.

If you currently have or suspect you have an active warrant out for your arrest, contact Grewal Law, PLLC at (888) 211-5798 for a free consultation with our Michigan attorneys.
