Michigan Youth Hockey Doctor Charged with Multiple Counts of Sexual Misconduct

Over the last two decades, Dr. Zvi Levran, 66, a urologist of Farmington Hills, has provided medical assistance to youth hockey programs in Michigan and Minnesota. In mid-October, a 19-year-old patient accused Levran of sexual assault during an examination at Levran’s home. At that time, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office charged Levran with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The courage of the first survivor sparked further investigation and, following Levran’s October arrest, the Farmington Hills Police Department received 33 additional tips “reporting similar, suspicious, or potentially criminal acts.” Since then, authorities have issued 21 charges of criminal sexual conduct. Many patients have informed police that their examinations with Levran were in some way linked to youth hockey organizations.

Levran remains in Oakland County Jail, where he has been in custody since his arraignment on November 11th. Levran’s current bond amount exceeds $2 million. Prosecutor Tricia Dare said there are several outstanding investigations, including in counties outside of Oakland and outside of the state of Michigan. Police and prosecutors have set up a tip line for anyone who has information or as a point of contact for any other survivor who was violated by Levran: (248) 871-2610.
