Robert A. Easterly, Esq. is a purpose and passion driven attorney, he is dedicated to the service of his clients through creative and zealous advocacy. He is originally from Toledo, Ohio but grew up in southern California and Seattle, Washington before moving to Michigan. He is a graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and received his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.
Robert currently focuses his practice primarily in municipal and criminal law. He serves as the City Attorney for the City of East Lansing, handling all district court prosecution and code enforcement matters. His criminal defense experience spans a variety of matters, from minor misdemeanors to significant felonies.
Before joining Grewal Law, Robert spent the first 5 years of his legal career at the law firm of Foster Swift Collins & Smith, as a litigation and business attorney.
Prior to attending law school Robert served as a Youth and Family Advocate for Lansing Teen Court, a program of Child & Family Charities in the Capital Area. Robert also spent several years in student affairs, serving as the Community Outreach Coordinator at Michigan State University, as well as the Coordinator of Intercultural Leadership Initiatives and Student Development in the Division of Student Affairs, Equity and Diversity at Washington State University.
Drawing from his previous career, Robert created a niche practice representing college students in criminal and student conduct matters. He has been particularly sought after by international student populations due to his knowledge and expertise in navigating between university policies, court systems and immigration issues.
A dedicated member of his community, Robert is an active volunteer in several community organizations. He is the immediate past President of the Davis-Dunnings Bar Association; member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Treasurer of PBS Education Fund. Robert also serves on the Board of Directors for: Highfields Inc. (chair-elect); Ingham County Treatment Courts Foundation (board member); the Uplift Our Youth Foundation (board member) and the Larry Mitchell Trice Outreach Services (board member). He also serves as a Commissioner for the State Bar of Michigan Board of Commissioners.
Robert is happily married to Dr. Talitha P. Easterly, and they have two sons, Ezra and Immanuel.
