Sammie Eyde is an associate attorney with Grewal Law PLLC. Her practice focuses on sexual abuse litigation, criminal defense, and family law.
Sammie has built her legal career on helping clients facing difficult times. She understands the legal process can be daunting and even confusing at times. Sammie is committed to helping clients understand the complexities of the legal process and the unique legal circumstances he or she is facing in a case. She also strives to help clients overcome the emotions associated with the legal process. As an attorney, Sammie strives for all of her clients to see her not only as a zealous advocate but also a respected and trusted advisor. She hopes no client leaves an interaction with her or the court being confused or wondering “what just happened?” or “what is going on?”.
Born and raised in Okemos, Michigan, Sammie obtained her undergraduate degree at Western Michigan University (Go broncos) before leaving the Midwest to complete her legal education at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in sunny San Diego California. While at Western Michigan University, Sammie’s passion for helping others began when she volunteered with the school’s Alternative Spring Break program and volunteered with children. After that, Sammie volunteered abroad in Thailand and was an active participant of a feminist organization on Western’s campus.
After graduating from Thomas Jefferson with honors, Sammie accepted a job working as a court appointed dependency attorney. With Dependency Legal Group of San Diego, Sammie represented parents whose children had been removed from the home by Child Protective Services. Through advocating for her clients to keep a child in the home, obtaining reunification services for parents and sadly sometimes fighting against termination of parental rights, Sammie gained the respect and confidence of her clients and colleagues. She also developed a love of the courtroom through daily court appearances as well as attendance at a trial skills training seminar in San Francisco.
Immediately prior to becoming an associate at Grewal Law PLLC, Sammie was a Deputy Public Defender III at the Riverside County Public Defender’s Office. Individually handling a large number of cases gave Sammie the opportunity to expand her advocacy skill and knowledge of criminal law. She appeared in court with clients from arraignment all the way through jury trial and even post-conviction violation of probation cases. Sammie learned the importance of communicating with clients through each stage of the legal process and successfully built strong client relationships through telephone conferences, in office meetings, and jail visits. Working with a broad range of clients from those facing misdemeanor charges to those facing serious felony charges gave Sammie expansive experience and knowledge that enables her to handle a multitude of different criminal matters. Sammie worked diligently to make sure her clients made the most informed decision regarding their individual case and made sure her client’s rights were not being violated by prosecutors and police officers.
In her spare time, Sammie enjoys traveling, watching sports, camping and spending time with her family, which includes her adorable dogs Phil and Willow.
