Marijuana Processor Licenses for Michigan Cannabusinesses
Navigating Processor Licenses for Cannabis Products
For those looking to produce marijuana-infused products, such as edibles, distillates, vape cartridges, topicals, and any other marijuana-infused product, you’ll need to secure a Processor license. Processors take marijuana plant material and turn it into a marijuana-infused product.

Processor Licensing Requirements
A processor license authorizes:
- Sale of marijuana-infused products to other Processors; and
- Sale of marijuana-infused products to Provisioning Centers/Retailers.
Some examples of marijuana-infused products produced by Processors are:
- Edibles;
- Concentrates (like wax, shatter, dabs, etc.);
- Vape Cartridges;
- Topicals;
- THC Distillate;
- Capsules;
- Tinctures;
- Suppositories; and
- Transdermal patches.
Keep in mind that a medical Processor license is required to produce marijuana-infused products for sale in licensed medical marijuana provisioning centers, while an adult-use Processor license is required to produce marijuana-infused products at recreational marijuana retailers. Most Processors will likely want to give strong consideration to obtaining licensure for both the medical and recreational markets.
Potency Limits for Marijuana Products
The Marijuana Regulatory Agency has imposed certain potency limits for marijuana-infused products. Processors will need to be mindful of these limits, as there are differences depending on whether the product is for the medical or adult-use market.

- Capsules, tinctures: 100 mg per dose; 2000 mg per container

- Transdermal patches: 100 mg per dose; 2000 mg per container
